Previously, there were two methods for adding an artist to your watchlist. 

The first method, which was available under the watchlist menu, and from the 'view watchlist' page, involved selecting an artist from a dropdown menu.

The second method involved clicking on the 'Add' link on the 'Artist Details' page, which you can get to by searching for an artist, or from any page that displays an artists name (eg. next to an artwork for that artist).

As the site has grown, and the number of artists has increased to over 4,000, the first method resulted in users waiting 20 seconds or more (depending on connection speed) for the drop down list to populate.

To avoid this waiting time, we have removed the first option. Note that all links that previously went to the drop down list of artists will now go to a search page.  Full instructions on using the search and adding an artist to a watchlist are provided on this page, and are also provided in the FAQ section.
