A recommended change to superannuation is upsetting investors and artists. Two members of the federal government's eight-person panel review of superannuation admitted this week that art can be a very good investment. So why, the art industry has asked, has art been targeted for exclusion from eligibility from self-managed funds?
Cooper Review author Jeremy Cooper tells The Australian he has invested in artworks, albeit not within his self-managed superannuation fund. Fellow panelist Meg Heffron says: "you do have people with art expertise who are doing better with their art than I'm doing with my shares".
